For The Love of Films ♥️

What is your favorite film?

What is the film you can binge repeatedly?

Who is your all-time film director?

These are the questions that are easy to answer but for a film enthusiast it will be complex and would probably be a long conversation.

Growing up in a third world country we cannot afford to watch in the cinema. We don’t have the variety of access to watch movies back when I was younger. There were times my elder siblings would rent out at Video City or buy illegal pirated VCD or DVD copies.

Until we got access on ‘Skycable’ which blew our minds with the range of channels from HBO, Cinemax, AXN, Cinema One etc.. It was indeed nostalgic to reminisce those days where we used to get excited on new movies coming out on television.

When I was 11years old I started getting fond of old films from Film Noir, Silent films, Black and White etc… There’s something about old Hollywood and how the way they filmed that was fascinating to me.

One thing that stood out was the creativeness on how producers / directors, conceptualized and developed a brilliant piece of art with the limited resources they had back then.

The entertainment industry has inspired and influenced every individual and society. There’s something about psychological beauty behind how films are being created that it connects to human behavior from the scripts, cinematography, plot, wardrobe, special effects, and soundtracks. One of the great things about it; that it’s a source of knowledge and can stir up our emotions, values, stereotypes, and mental presentations of reality.

The way how movies have greatly impacted my life has no words of explanation. I’ve learned every valuable lessons in life.

It was and still my comfort with my mental health. It inspired me to become creative.  It taught me how to speak in English through subtitles and widen my vocabulary.

I love the peace that it gives me whenever I watch alone with no distraction. I enjoy plugging in a good worthy film with my tiny projector. I have subscribed to all streaming platforms and even got myself a Fire stick so I have access to all.

I like going to cinema by myself and create my own little bubble living in my imagination.

Have you ever had that feeling of coming out of the movie theater and become like a totally different person? As if you were in a different world and your reality pause for a while?  You’re going home soak with emotions and wish your life is just like a movie?

When I was in college, I dreamed to work in a film production but I cannot afford the curriculum, so I opted to do Photography instead. It’s still a dream till now, maybe one day, in the near future I can fulfill it.

Back in 2016, when I was on the edge of my existential crisis, I thought I had lost myself completely, reading self help books and watching movies have saved me.

Since then I dared myself to do something that may take time but I would enjoy. I called it ‘One Hundred Movie Challenge’. Basically, to watch movies every year that I haven’t seen and tick it off on my list. All movies were rated under my IMDB account, you can check the below link for my ratings:

Whatever mood you are in, find a good movie to binge that resonate your mood.

Indulge in it and get inspired. It will make you feel good.

To answer above questions, below will be my frank answers:

  • Inglourious Basterds
  • The Pianist
  • Hitchcock

A day in ‘The Fort’, BGC ♥️

I came back home after 4 years and went to some of the places I used to visit.

I spent most of my college days in this inspiring place, indeed brought back some fond memories. Everything was almost exactly the same as if I had never left.
